The 2005 Oklahoma Legislative Session will begin February 7, 2005. Bills are currently being filed for introduction at that time. Because the Oklahoma House of Representatives will be controlled by the Republican Party and its anti-abortion platform for the next two years, it will be extrememly important to monitor all legislation that pertains to reproductive health, including but not limited to: insurance coverage for contraception; parental notification for minors seeking abortions; state imposed waiting periods; abstinance only sexuality education; emergency contraception protocols for rape victims; hospital mergers that threaten community access to tubal ligations, vasectomies, contraceptives, etc.; misleading linkeage of breast cancer to abortion; - and the list goes on.
